Fair Trade hanging rattan egg chair

This natural hanging chair has been intricately handcrafted into a egg shape

by Fair Trade artisans in Bangladesh. The chair is big enough to snuggle up with a book and a glass of wine.

It is made of hogla rope, hogla is a thick leaf, grass-like plant which grows in the rivers and marshlands in the southern parts of Bangladesh. The hogla leaves are cut and then dried in the sun. Artisans hand weave the hogla to create the rope. After making the iron frame this hogla rope is woven around the frame to create the finished product. 

For easy hanging, the chair comes with a chain. It has a weight carrying capacity of up to 130kg. 

If using the rattan hanging chair outside, keep it undercover and out of direct sunlight, otherwise the chair will deteriorate.
